ICARE Community Development Corporation is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to serving the residents of Dekalb County, Georgia. Our mission is to address the critical issues of homelessness and food insecurity by providing comprehensive support to individuals and families experiencing crisis. We believe that everyone deserves access to safe housing, nutritious food, and the resources needed to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Through our integrated approach, we offer emergency housing for those in immediate need, transitional housing programs to support long-term stability, and food services to ensure no one goes hungry. Beyond these essential services, we provide comprehensive social support including case management, counseling, job training, and community resources to help our clients achieve sustainable independence and reconnect with their communities.
SERVICES
The heartbeat of ICARE Community Development Corporation is its FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM, F.E.E.D. ME. Through donations of food items from corporate community partners and members of our community, ICARE is able to provide hot food, sandwiches, or packaged meals to the homeless at no cost. Through those same donations ICARE is able to sustain a food pantry that enables us to provide bags of groceries for families experiencing food insecurity, who have a place to cook and store food. Monthly, we hit the streets of our community to warm the heart of those less fortunate with a meal.
ICARE’s BASIC NEEDS PROGRAM provides comprehensive social support including job training, community resources, and counselling to address food insecurity and support overall wellness and community integration. During our monthly homelessness street engagement and outreach ICARE Kits are distributed to the homeless that include basic items necessary to preserve good health and hygiene. Those kits include a travel size toothbrush, toothpaste, bar soap, hand sanitizer, deodorant, comb, Kleenex/napkins, feminine sanitary napkin, wet wipes, bottled water, and a packaged snack.
ICARE Community Development Corporation serves as a resource partner that connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing crisis due to economic hardship, domestic violence, and other urgent causes to immediate shelter and safe housing options, providing a secure foundation during their most vulnerable moments. Our network of partners allows us to be a bridge to this vital support while ICARE works to build independent residences will provide solutions for EMERGENCY and TRANSITIONAL HOUSING and SUPPORT SERVICES directly. ICARE’s transitional housing programs combined with case management, counselling, and life skills training will help clients achieve long-term housing stability and self-sufficiency.
